Czech Airport Access Works Reduce I/3 Traffic Between České Budějovice and Krumlov
The South Bohemian Region is extending the connection between České Budějovice Airport and the I/3 highway. Construction, carried out by COLAS CZ a.s. and costing 160 million CZK, began on 23 February 2026 and is scheduled for completion in November 2026. From 30 July to about 18 September 2026 traffic on the main stretch of I/3 between České Budějovice and Český Krumlov will be limited to a single lane, with alternating flow controlled by on‑site workers during peak hours (06:00‑09:00 and 14:00‑18:00) and by traffic lights at other times. Drivers approaching from Krumlov must turn onto the airport access about 50 m earlier than before, while the approach from České Budějovice remains unchanged. The project also includes new turning lanes, a signal‑controlled intersection, additional roundabouts, upgraded utilities, lighting, sidewalks and a cycle path.
