Czech Ambassador and ATO Chairman discuss trade cooperation
Czech Republic Ambassador Petr Stepanek met with Gürsel Baran, Chairman of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO), to discuss strengthening economic and commercial cooperation between the two nations. The discussions focused on increasing sectoral collaborations, intensifying trade delegations, and establishing direct contact between the respective chambers of commerce.
According to Baran, the total trade volume between Turkey and the Czech Republic reached approximately 6.2 billion dollars, with Turkey’s exports accounting for 2.4 billion dollars of that total. Ankara has demonstrated a significant role in this trade relationship, recording 402 million dollars in exports to the Czech Republic and 183 million dollars in imports, resulting in a trade surplus for the capital.
Both parties highlighted the potential for cooperation in various sectors, particularly in defense and aviation, referencing existing protocols signed at the IDEF exhibition. The upcoming Turkey-Czech Economic and Trade Partnership Committee (JETCO) meeting in Ankara is expected to further facilitate connections between business leaders from both countries.
