Czech and Slovak health agencies advise plant‑rich diets for gut health and summer nutrition
Health experts in the Czech Republic outline how a plant‑based diet supports gut health by providing fibre, pre‑biotics, short‑chain fatty acids and polyphenols. They recommend a diverse intake of minimally processed vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole‑grain cereals, nuts and seeds, introduced gradually and adjusted to individual tolerance, with professional guidance for chronic conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.
The Slovak Public Health Office stresses that summer meals should remain balanced and nutrient‑dense, featuring whole‑grain products, seasonal fruit and vegetables, low‑fat dairy, fish, poultry, potatoes and legumes while limiting foods high in saturated fat and simple sugars. Officials highlight the importance of vitamins A, C, E and lycopene as antioxidants that can be depleted by sun exposure, and advise eating smaller, more frequent portions and avoiding heavy meals, especially in the evening, to support digestion and sleep quality.
