Czech and Slovak health authorities urge quitting smoking

Public health officials in the Czech Republic emphasize that quitting smoking can significantly reduce mortality, noting tobacco use as a leading cause of death in the country. In Slovakia, the Public Health Office offers free, individual and group counseling, health checks and a telephone helpline to support smokers who want to quit, including assistance with e‑cigarettes and heated tobacco products.

The Slovak program includes initial assessments of smoking habits, blood pressure, weight and lung function, followed by personalized cessation plans and regular follow‑up to monitor progress.
