Czech and Slovak tourists intend summer travel while weighing safety and cost

A recent Ipsos survey for Pluxee found that 76% of Czech employees intend to take a vacation this year, while 57% of Slovaks plan a summer holiday. In the Czech sample, 37% said safety of a destination now influences their choice, up five percentage points from last year, and 17% consider political stability. Overall, 62% of respondents say security or geopolitical factors affect their plans. Traditional Mediterranean sites such as Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Italy and Croatia remain popular.

In Slovakia, 34% of those planning a trip will travel exclusively abroad and a further 42% intend a mix of domestic and foreign stays; Croatia and the Czech Republic each attract 23% of Slovak travellers, with Italy close behind at 22%. The conflict in the Middle East caused 5% of Slovaks to change their intended destination, another 12% to wait for further developments, and 3% to cancel or postpone. Budget expectations are modest, with most Slovaks planning to spend between €500 and €1,000.

Both surveys show a strong desire to travel despite rising concerns, with many travellers purchasing new travel insurance for each trip (42% of Czechs) while a minority still travel without coverage.
