Czech Architects Chamber rebukes Igor Dřevíkovský on illegal building legalisation

The Czech Chamber of Architects issued a reprimand to architect Igor Dřevíkovský after he explained in an interview how he helped legalise two structures in the Prague district of Dubeč that were erected without permits for politician Filip Turek, the honorary president of the Motorist party. The chamber said his comments could give the impression that architects should find ways to bypass zoning rules, which it deemed professionally unacceptable.

The chamber noted that the buildings were presented as fruit‑processing and storage facilities to obtain permits, although Dřevíkovský admitted doubts about their actual use. It decided not to open a disciplinary proceeding, judging the conduct not sufficiently serious or repeated. The illegal structures had previously resulted in a fine of about 200,000 Czech crowns for Turek.
