Czech authorities report alcohol sales to minors and numerous traffic offenses
The Czech Trade Inspection (ČOI) reported significant violations regarding the sale of restricted goods to minors during the second quarter of 2026. Out of 1,902 inspections conducted between April 1 and June 30, authorities identified deficiencies in 819 cases. Most notably, inspectors documented the sale or provision of alcohol to individuals under the age of 18 in 148 instances.
In separate law enforcement activities, the Czech Police reported various traffic and public order offenses. During a routine check in the Klatovy region, police stopped 242 vehicles, resulting in 91 offenses and approximately 121,000 CZK in fines. One motorcyclist lost his license after being clocked at speeds exceeding 160 km/h.
Additionally, during the 55th Barum Czech Rally Zlín, nearly 300 police officers managed traffic and security. They recorded over 300 offenses throughout the week, primarily involving speeding. One notable incident involved a driver in Podhradní Lhota who recorded a blood alcohol level of 2.53 per mille after consuming alcohol prior to driving.
