Czech authorities warn of dangerous Christmas lights

The Czech Trade Inspection Authority (ČOI) has issued a warning regarding a dangerous Christmas light string (60L=3M) manufactured by the Chinese company Huashun Lighting. Laboratory tests revealed serious structural flaws in the electronic unit.

Inspectors noted that the power supply was not securely anchored and was only held in place by hot melt glue and soldering. This defect could allow the power lead to be pulled out, exposing live electrical parts. Additionally, the product features low mechanical strength in the control unit and inadequate wire cross-sections, posing a severe risk of electric shock or even fatal consequences.

The product was sold in the Czech Republic by a retailer based in Karlovy Vary. The warning has been shared with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and other European authorities via the Safety Gate rapid warning system.
