Czech automotive production rises amid surge in electric vehicle manufacturing

Czech automotive production has seen a year-on-year increase of 1.4% during the first eight months of the year, with a total of 966,888 passenger vehicles manufactured. This growth occurred despite the traditional summer period used for plant maintenance and model preparations.

A significant trend is the rapid rise in electrified vehicle production, which grew by 27% compared to the previous year. Electrified models accounted for 41.35% of total production, totaling 401,600 units. This figure includes 201,700 hybrids, 33,389 plug-in hybrids, and 166,511 purely electric vehicles.

Škoda Auto remains the primary driver of this growth, producing 648,393 passenger cars in the first eight months, a 6.2% increase year-on-year. Other manufacturers are also making strategic shifts: Hyundai in Nošovice is preparing for a new generation of the Tucson, and Toyota in Kolín is preparing to produce battery electric vehicles, marking the first plant in Europe where the brand will produce electric models alongside hybrids.
