Czech beauty experts share summer hair and skin care tips

To keep blonde hair bright during summer, experts advise protecting strands from UV radiation, salty or chlorinated water and hard water minerals. Recommended measures include applying UV‑filtering hair oil or leave‑in treatment before sun exposure, wearing a hat or scarf, pre‑wetting hair before swimming, and limiting harsh shampoos. The new K18 Triple Bright shampoo claims to neutralise yellow‑orange tones and remove mineral deposits in a single wash, a claim supported by clinical studies showing removal of up to three months of buildup.

For skin, the viral “face slugging” trend involves applying a hydrating cream followed by a layer of petroleum jelly overnight. Dermatologists acknowledge that the occlusive layer can boost hydration and improve dry, ageing skin, but warn that improper use may block pores, cause acne or “vazelinoderm”. They stress the need for a clean base, avoiding retinoids or acids under the occlusion, and suggest alternative occlusives such as shea butter, lanolin or silicone‑based ingredients for oily skin. The practice is recommended no more than once a week for most users.
