Czech castles Chrast and Kravaře showcase Baroque heritage

Chrast Castle, situated on the edge of the historic centre of Chrast, is a compact Baroque complex with a modest main building, mansard roofs and regularly spaced windows. The castle now houses the Chrast Municipal Museum, offering permanent exhibits on local history, regional art and ecclesiastical heritage. Its surrounding park, with old trees and walking paths, provides a tranquil setting for visitors.

Kravaře Castle in Silesia is a valuable Baroque monument dating from the first half of the 18th century. The four‑winged structure includes a chapel dedicated to Archangel Michael, the only interior décor in the Czech Republic to survive the 1937 fire unaltered. The castle hosts a permanent exhibition on its history, an alchemy workshop dedicated to the 17th‑century alchemist Michael Sendivoj, and displays the story of a former state‑run school for girls that operated there until the fire.
