Czech Chamber of Deputies rejects Barbora Urbanová’s trip to Ukraine

The Organizing Committee of the Czech Chamber of Deputies has rejected a request by Deputy Barbora Urbanová (STAN) to travel to Ukraine. Urbanová had received an invitation from Olena Kondratiuk, the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.

Chamber Speaker Tomio Okamura (SPD) reportedly requested that Urbanová withdraw her application, citing the official reasoning that matters regarding Ukraine should be handled exclusively by the government. Urbanová declined to withdraw the request, stating that the country remains a parliamentary democracy. The decision to deny the trip was reached through votes by government deputies.
