Czech child‑sport experts urge varied movement and safety measures for kids this summer

Jakub Opočenský, coordinator of the KST Academy in Trutnov, explains a Norwegian‑inspired approach that favours broad, enjoyable movement over early specialization. The academy runs afternoon sessions for various ages, partners with preschools in the “Školka plná pohybu” project, and aims to help children discover running, cycling, swimming and ball games in a safe, supportive environment.

Kristýna Přibylová, founder of Monkey’s Gym, advises parents on maintaining children’s activity levels during the holidays. She recommends mixing outdoor play with structured sport, using protective gear such as helmets and water‑padded sleeves, and supervising children to reduce common summer injuries like falls, head impacts and burns. Both experts stress that regular, varied movement builds resilience and reduces injury severity.

The combined guidance highlights the importance of early, enjoyable physical activity, parental involvement, and injury‑prevention measures to support children’s health throughout the summer.
