Czech cinema unveils two new 2026 film projects – a medical drama and a hockey comedy
Director Bohdan Karásek’s drama "Mistryně" will open in Czech cinemas on 23 June 2026. The film follows doctor Monika, played by Marie Švestková, as she balances a demanding career, a new partnership with Lukáš Bouzek, and the challenges of impending motherhood. Supporting roles include Jiří Havelka as Monika’s former husband. The story explores professional and personal doubts within the medical field.
The comedy‑drama "Lajna – KONEČNĚ FILM!" continues the popular "Lajna" series with a feature‑length adaptation slated for a December 2026 release. Filming began in July at Karlovy Vary’s Mattoni Arena, with key hockey scenes shot on the arena’s ice. The movie follows trainer Luboš Hrouzek (Jiří Langmajer) and his partner Deniska (Hana Vagnerová), adding new characters and Czech sports stars. Produced by DS10 Entertainment and Seznam.cz, the film will be distributed by Bioscop.
