Czech municipalities and regional authorities launch tree planting and maintenance initiatives
Several regions in the Czech Republic are implementing various tree planting and arboricultural projects to enhance urban greenery and road safety.
In Luhačovice, the city is investing 860,000 CZK to plant 72 new trees, including lindens, maples, and cherries, to provide shade and mitigate street overheating. Similarly, the Plzeň Region Road Administration (SÚS) is preparing to fell and treat hundreds of damaged trees across seven districts while planting over 1,700 new trees to offset removals.
In Plzeň, the municipal forest administration is organizing a public event for volunteers to plant 4,000 pine saplings in the V Pytli area. Meanwhile, the town of Hranice is undertaking a 2.14 million CZK revitalization of an alley near its viaducts. This project involves the professional treatment of 93 trees and the planting of 37 new specimens, such as oaks and maples, while maintaining ecological habitats for rare insects and birds.
