Czech cities Ostrava and Opava debut new parks and water attractions

New recreational and nature-focused spaces have been developed in the Czech cities of Ostrava and Opava.

In Ostrava's Radvanice district, the new Ladův park has been established. Designed to resemble a landscape from children's literature, the park utilizes the naturally damp terrain by creating a periodic pond and willow tunnels rather than attempting to drain the land. The design incorporates wooden walkways, willow domes, and a water-themed atmosphere inspired by the works of Josef Lada.

In Opava, a new water playground has opened near Stříbrné jezero (Silver Lake). The attraction, representing an investment of approximately 2.1 million CZK, allows children to interact with water through pumps, channels, and fountains. This project is part of a broader revitalization effort for the lake area, which was originally a gypsum mine, following the city's acquisition of the surrounding land and infrastructure.
