Karviná faces league appeal, appoints Roman West as new coach ahead of Chance Liga season

MFK Karviná was non‑competitively demoted to the second tier by the FAČR ethics committee after an alleged attempt to influence a top‑flight match. The club received a CZK 10 million fine and its mayor was also sanctioned. Karviná has appealed the decision, and the appeal commission’s ruling will determine whether the team remains in the Chance Liga or the league proceeds with only 15 clubs, possibly with a points deduction.

While the appeal is pending, the league schedule for 2026/27 has been published. Karviná appears in the opening round against Mladá Boleslav and will continue as a regular participant unless the commission overturns its status. The club also announced Roman West as the new head coach, succeeding Jarolím. West, previously with Slovácko and Opava, will take charge as Karviná prepares for the season.
