Czech coal miner Sokolovská uhelná reduces loss to 125 million CZK, posts positive EBITDA

Sokolovská uhelná, part of the SUAS Group, announced that its net loss for 2025 fell sharply to 125 million Czech crowns, compared with a 2.1 billion‑crown loss in 2024. Revenues rose to 5.7 billion crowns and EBITDA turned positive at 490 million crowns, after a negative 1.4 billion crowns the year before.

The improvement was attributed to asset‑sale transactions, optimisation of the Vřesová combined‑heat‑and‑power plant, and higher electricity and capacity‑payment revenues linked to shifts in the regional energy market, including the impact of the conflict in Iran. SUAS Group itself reported a post‑tax profit of 18 million crowns and EBITDA of 202 million crowns. The management expects continued stability and growth in 2026 and beyond.
