Czech consumer rights regarding e-shop refund policies

Under Czech law, e-shops are required to refund the full amount paid by a customer upon the cancellation of a contract, which includes the original shipping costs. Specifically, the seller must return the amount corresponding to the cheapest delivery method offered at the time of purchase.

While customers are typically responsible for the costs of shipping items back to the seller, this does not permit the merchant to withhold the initial delivery fee. Discrepancies often occur because ordering systems may automatically process the product refund while treating the original shipping fee as a separate, unreturned item. The Czech Trade Inspection emphasizes that the initial delivery cost must be included in the total refund.
