Czech courts receive multiple election invalidation challenges

Courts in the Czech Republic are processing numerous legal challenges regarding the validity of recent municipal elections and referendums across several regions.

In the South Moravian Region, complaints have been filed in Židlochovice concerning ballot box security, the sealing of polling stations, and non-transparent counting processes. In Brno, various districts including Bystrc, Líšeň, and Neslovice face challenges. Specifically, in Bystrc, a group claims over one thousand votes were not counted correctly, while in Líšeň, allegations include improper vote evaluation and illegal election campaigning near polling sites.

The Regional Court in Ostrava is handling 14 proposals, including cases in Havířov where errors in recording preference votes versus full list votes were alleged. In the Bruntál region, challenges involve the invalidity of candidates in Heřmanovice and a request to nullify entire elections in Bruntál due to missing information and improper ballot box security. Other disputes include the counting of votes for a deceased candidate in Polanka nad Odrou and a challenge to the wording of a referendum question regarding wind farms in Staré Heřminy. In Karviná, the SPD movement has requested a recount in specific districts, claiming they were short by only two votes for representation.
