Czech cultural institutions announce new exhibits and upcoming closures
The Municipal Museum in Moravská Třebová has launched a new permanent exhibition titled ‘City and World’. The exhibit honors the legacy of donor Ludwig V. Holzmaister, who funded the museum building and provided artifacts from his global travels. The exhibition features five thematic halls, including the ‘Wondrazimmer’, a room dedicated to the history of the Holzmaister and Wondra families. Notable items include family portraits, historical photographs, and a preserved heart belonging to Holzmaister’s grandfather, Josef Johann Wondra.
In Zlín, the historic Zlín Castle is scheduled to close to the public for eighteen months for reconstruction. To mitigate the impact, the cultural center Živý Zlín will relocate much of its programming, including cinema, concerts, and exhibitions, to the Kolektivní dům. Director Jana Kubáčová stated that while the lack of castle facilities presents challenges, the organization aims to maintain traditional outdoor events in public spaces like Sad Svobody to ensure continuity for local creators and visitors.
