Czech cultural sites unveil historic exhibitions and restoration stories

In the Brtník area of the Czech Republic, the former St. Martin’s church—originally built between 1709 and 1716—was demolished in February 1973 after failed restoration plans. The site now features a restored 18th‑century calvary with a chapel, the Holy Trinity, and a Garden of Gethsemane, whose recent repairs in 1998‑1999 and 2016‑2017 are highlighted for visitors.

At the Northern Bohemia Museum in Liberec, a new exhibition opened on 17 June showcasing medieval history through six detailed castle models, a replica siege engine, and original artefacts. The display, presented with 22 information panels and contributions from regional museums, aims to explain castle construction, use, and decline from the 13th to 15th centuries and to engage visitors with interactive learning.
