Czech cultural venues limit hours and close for lighting upgrades
The historic Zámecký park under Kosíř in the Prostějov region will shorten its daily opening time to 07:00‑18:00 from 1 July, closing two hours earlier each day. Management cites a long‑standing pattern of vandalism, theft, illegal fishing and safety incidents, saying the change is needed to protect the 20‑hectare landscape and recent multimillion‑dollar revitalisation.
In Liberec, Galerie Lázně will shut for a three‑month renovation to replace all exhibition lighting and update exterior illumination. Director Filip Suchomel said the twelve‑year‑old system “no longer meets current standards” and the upgrade will lower operating costs and enable modern display technologies. The gallery is scheduled to reopen on 17 October with three new exhibitions, funded largely by EU regional funds.
