Czech D1 highway meets noise limits; acoustic cover slated for Dlhu­nice overpass

The Directorate of Roads and Motorways (ŘSD) completed independent noise measurements on the D1 highway segment between Říkovice and Přerov, including the overpass at Dlhu­nice. The final results showed that daytime and nighttime noise levels from regular traffic stayed within the required hygienic limits.

Even though the measurements are within limits, Dlhu­nice residents have reported strong impulse noise when vehicles cross the expansion joint of the overpass. The Přerov municipal council has approved a funding package of roughly 5.6 million CZK to install an acoustic cover that will mask the bridge ceiling and sides, reducing the impulsive sound. The cover will be installed by the construction contractor, with the city covering installation and future maintenance, spokesperson Miroslav Mazal said. "The selected measure will be in the form of an acoustic shield that copies the transverse slope of the bridge," Mazal explained.
