Czech debt registries and their impact on financial standing
In the Czech Republic, there is no single central database for debts. Instead, several distinct registries track different types of financial obligations, which can affect an individual's or entrepreneur's ability to secure financing.
Key registries include the Banking Client Information Register (BRKI), managed by banks, and the Non-Banking Client Information Register (NRKI), which covers non-bank credit products. Notably, these registries contain both negative and positive information; a history of timely payments can improve a borrower's perceived creditworthiness.
Additionally, the SOLUS registry tracks debts owed to telecommunications operators, energy providers, and insurance companies, typically recording a negative entry after three consecutive missed payments. For legal enforcement, the Central Register of Executions (CEE) contains information regarding finalized executions led by court bailiffs.
For self-employed individuals (OSVČ), a registry entry does not result in an automatic rejection of financing. Lenders evaluate the type, age, and severity of the record alongside the applicant's current income and purpose of the loan.
