Czech design glassware from Hotel Praha regains value
Glassware originally produced by the Moser glassworks for the Hotel Praha has gained renewed interest among collectors and antique dealers. The Hotel Praha, located in Prague's Dejvice district, was constructed between 1975 and 1981 to serve foreign delegations and the Czechoslovak government.
Items from the hotel, including glassware designed by Adolf Matura and Pavel Hlava, are being sold both domestically and internationally. The designs were derived from the Montreal series, which was showcased at the Expo 1967 world exhibition. Collectors identify authentic pieces by checking for the Hotel Praha logo engraved on the side and the Moser mark on the bottom.
The hotel was purchased by the PPF group in 2013 and subsequently demolished in 2014 after a proposal to declare the building a cultural monument failed.
