Czech doctors introduce new blood tests for early heart failure detection

Czech medical professionals are implementing new preventive measures to combat heart failure, a condition that can often go undetected until it is advanced. Cardiologists note that up to 80 percent of heart failure cases could be prevented through early intervention.

General practitioners in the Czech Republic are introducing specialized blood tests for high-risk groups. Individuals over the age of 50 with at least two cardiovascular risk factors will be tested every two years. For those over 60 with a single risk factor, the testing frequency remains the same.

Medical experts, including Aleš Linhart of the Czech Society of Cardiology, warn that heart failure often presents with subtle symptoms like fatigue or shortness of breath, which patients may mistake for normal aging. Furthermore, cardiologist Tomáš Skála emphasizes that heart issues are not exclusive to seniors; rhythm disorders can affect healthy individuals in their 30s and 40s due to genetics, stress, or lifestyle factors.
