Czech doctors save woman from fatal vascular injury
Medical specialists in the Czech Republic successfully treated a woman who survived a critical vascular injury following a car accident in Příbram. The patient suffered a rupture of the inferior vena cava where it enters the right atrium, a severe injury comparable to the one that caused the death of Princess Diana.
The life-saving intervention involved the Central Bohemian Emergency Service, the Prague Air Rescue Service, and specialists from Motol and Homolka University Hospitals. Doctors noted that such injuries often result in rapid fatal bleeding into the chest or abdominal cavities, making survival rare without immediate surgical intervention.
