Czech drivers dominate Pezinská Baba hill‑climb weekend

The candidate event for the European Hill‑Climb Championship took place on the Slovak circuit Pezinská Baba, featuring the Slovak and Austrian championships and the LIQUI MOLY Czech Hill‑Climb series. Czech drivers entered more than a third of the field and secured the top positions in the Central European zone. During the Saturday test a fire broke out in Václav Janík’s car; the blaze was extinguished quickly by fellow drivers and the mechanic crew worked through the night to rebuild the engine. Janík posted the fastest time in both Sunday runs, clinching the overall win in the Czech championship as well as the Central European ranking. David Komárek finished second and Jiří Svoboda third. Rule changes in the Czech Trophy shifted the strongest cars to the national series, opening victory opportunities for drivers in lower‑power classes. Josef Srnský, driving a Škoda 130 LR, now leads the Czech Trophy standings, followed by Kamil Kunt and Lukáš Tomeček.
