Czech drivers face increased risks from autumn weather and road conditions
A survey by MOL and NMS Market Research highlights the primary concerns for Czech drivers during the autumn and winter months. The most significant fear among 60 percent of respondents is ice and black ice on roads, followed by fog and snowfall. The study also reveals gender and age disparities: 72 percent of women express concern regarding ice compared to 52 percent of men, while older drivers are more affected by darkness.
Beyond weather, 67 percent of drivers identified the failure to maintain safe following distances as a major issue. Experts from the VIZE 0 Platform and Kooperativa insurance warn that autumn conditions, particularly fog, can lead to fatal errors by distorting a driver's perception of speed and distance. Insurance data shows a notable increase in accidents during October, with claims rising by up to 10 percent due to autumn conditions and failure to adapt driving styles to wet or foggy environments.
