Czech environmental initiatives promote tree planting and ecological awareness

Environmental initiatives in the Czech Republic are focusing on increasing greenery and quantifying its ecological benefits. The eleventh year of the ‘Vraťte stromům korunu’ project, organized by ROSSMANN, Henkel Consumer Brands, and the non-profit Sázíme stromy, has successfully raised funds to plant 350 mature trees across seven locations in the country. This initiative, which donates one koruna from the purchase of selected Henkel products, has contributed to planting over 3,000 trees and shrubs over the past decade.

Simultaneously, the European TreeTag campaign has launched in the Czech Republic, coordinated by the Arboristická akademie. The campaign allows municipalities to participate by having experts measure specific tree parameters. These measurements are used to create information tags that detail the environmental benefits of individual trees, such as rainwater retention, carbon dioxide storage, and air pollutant removal. This effort aims to help local governments communicate the value of green investments to the public, especially following periods of extreme heat.
