Czech family comedy 'Vacation in Bohemian Paradise' debuts in cinemas
The Czech film *Dovolená v Českém ráji* (English title: Vacation in Bohemian Paradise) premiered at the Filmovka festival on 28 July 2026 and entered cinemas nationwide on 30 July 2026. Directed and written by Adam Koloman Rybanský, the picture is described by the creator as a tragicomedy. It stars Tomáš Jeřábek as Milan Svoboda and Magdaléna Borová as Týna Svobodová, with supporting performances by Petr Čtvrtníček, Saša Rašilov, Adam Mišík and others.
The story follows the Svobodovi family on a holiday to the scenic Český ráj region, where their attempts to repair a strained marriage clash with divergent expectations of a perfect vacation. The film juxtaposes the couple’s marital tensions with the area's iconic landscapes, including the Trosky ruins and local campgrounds. Rybanský said, “I regularly went on hikes there for several years and invented the story directly in the forests of Český ráj,” and added, “Never shot with children before, I was a bit nervous. In the end they were great.” The production used the region’s forests and campsites as authentic backdrops, emphasizing Czech holiday traditions.
