Czech fast food market expands with new international brands
The fast food market in the Czech Republic is undergoing significant expansion as new international brands enter the country and established chains grow their presence. While McDonald’s and KFC continue to build their networks, new players from Germany, the United States, and Poland are seeking opportunities.
German burger chain Burgermeister is preparing its Czech debut, with plans to open its first restaurant on Wenceslas Square in Prague early next year. The company is also considering further locations throughout the country.
Other major players are also scaling operations. Burger King currently operates approximately 70 restaurants in the country, while Popeyes has opened 19 locations within its first three years. Both chains are expanding beyond Prague into regional areas, including Králův Dvůr, Klatovy, and Písek. Additionally, the U.S.-based Five Guys opened its first Prague restaurant last December in the former Máj department store.
