Karlovy Vary Festival Prices Surge, Attendees Face Higher Costs

At the Karlovy Vary festival, prices for food and drink have risen sharply compared to previous years. A large Pilsner now costs 72 CZK (up from 70 CZK), small Pilsner 57 CZK, espresso 60 CZK (up from 50 CZK), and a scoop of ice‑cream 70 CZK. Vendors increasingly accept only card payments, despite legal requirements to allow cash.

Ticket prices for Czech festivals are also climbing, with four‑day passes reaching up to 5 000 CZK and VIP tickets up to 20 000 CZK. Organisers warn of counterfeit tickets sold online. Despite higher costs, festival sites remain crowded as families accept the price hikes.

The International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary runs parallel events, including press conferences, debates, and live music by DJ Vladimir 518 and Mike Trafik. Notable guests such as Jan Cina, Pavla Tomicová, Jitka Schneiderová, and Maggie Gyllenhaal attended. The new Czech series “Filter” premiered, and a range of local actors and creators participated in talks and talk shows.
