Czech film star names face decline in popularity

The popularity of certain traditional Czech female names, such as Libuše, has significantly declined over the last 50 years. Once among the top 20 most common names for girls, Libuše is now considered a rarity among newborns as modern naming trends take precedence.

Historically, the name is deeply rooted in Czech culture and was associated with prominent film actresses, including Libuše Šafránková and Libuše Geprtová. While these names were once ubiquitous in the silver screen era, they are increasingly found only among older generations.
