Czech First Lady Eva Pavlová Escalates Political Criticism of Government

Eva Pavlová, the Czech Republic’s first lady, has become increasingly visible and vocal in political matters. Beyond her charitable work through her foundation, she frequently uses social media to comment on government actions, recently targeting Culture Minister Ota Klempíř and Foreign Minister Petr Macinka over their proposed joint band project. Pavlová described the ministers’ statements as “lies, slanders, threats, insults, and fear‑mongering,” and linked her criticism to the earlier “SMS case” that sparked a public dispute between the government and the presidential office.

President Petr Pavel defended his wife’s active role, saying she is not merely a decorative companion but a person who reacts strongly to perceived injustices. He noted her commitment to supporting families, seniors, and children through her foundation’s projects, which include legal aid for single‑parent households and assistance for at‑risk newborns.
