Czech fishermen conduct seasonal pond harvests
Fishermen across different regions of the Czech Republic are conducting traditional autumn fish harvests. At the Kačírek pond in Vodňany, a team of thirteen workers harvested approximately 600 kilograms of fish, including carp, pike, catfish, and rudd. Many of these fish are transported to hatcheries and subsequently exported abroad.
In the Vysočina region, the Veselský pond harvest is underway, managed by the company Kinský Žďár. Fishermen expect to harvest around 500 metric tons of fish, with approximately 400 metric tons of carp intended for the Christmas market. Despite recent droughts affecting various areas, officials noted that the Veselský pond remained stable due to effective water management within the local system. The harvested fish are moved to hatcheries in Žďár nad Sázavou for distribution.
