Czech football league sees rising revenue and viewership
The Czech top-tier football league is experiencing significant growth in both viewership and commercial revenue. During the Sport Alive conference in Prague, club representatives identified several key drivers for this economic expansion.
Increased competition for television rights has been a primary factor, with David Vaněk of Viktoria Plzeň noting that competition has brought approximately one billion koruna into Czech football over the last five years. Tomáš Křivda, CEO of AC Sparta Praha, highlighted that viewership on O2 TV has grown by about 50% since the last tender, making the domestic league one of the most-watched football competitions on Czech television.
Beyond broadcasting, clubs are seeing benefits from new owners, increased sponsorship, and improved fan engagement. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, clubs have shifted toward digital marketing to connect directly with supporters and drive stadium attendance.
