Czech football rankings drop following poor European results
Czech football clubs have experienced a significant decline in the UEFA national coefficient rankings following a poor week of results in European competitions. The country has dropped to 12th place, trailing Greece and Poland.
Securing a top-ten position is critical, as it allows the national champion to qualify directly for the Champions League main phase without playing in the qualifying rounds. Statistical estimates currently place the Czech Republic's chances of reaching the top ten at only approximately 11 percent.
The decline follows a week where Czech representatives earned only 0.2 points. Slavia Prague suffered a 0-2 defeat against Sabah in Baku, extending a winless streak in the Champions League main phase to 21 matches. Sparta Prague managed only a 1-1 draw against Lilleström, while Plzeň lost 1-2 to Ferencváros and Jablonec fell 2-3 to Freiburg.
