Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka faces political controversy
Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka, representing the Motoristé sobě political group, has faced intense criticism following personal attacks on former Senator Miroslava Němcová. Macinka suggested Němcová’s mental capacity was better suited for reading Soviet children's stories after a dispute regarding Czech diplomacy's refusal to support a Finnish initiative to restrict Russian citizens' entry into the EU.
Němcová responded by labeling Macinka a “pro-Russian collaborator” and a “coward,” citing a previous incident where the Minister conducted an interview with a masked activist. The controversy follows broader scrutiny of the Motoristé sobě movement and its leadership.
Separately, the Ministry of the Environment has questioned expert findings regarding 600,000 tons of waste at a landfill in Ostrava. The Ministry halted the case due to missing formal documentation, amid allegations that an official used passages from a defense statement in their decision-making process.
