Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka faces security scrutiny after activist prank

Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka is facing scrutiny following a security incident involving an elaborate prank by the activist group Detektivní Parta. The group lured Macinka into an interview with a masked individual in a room containing replica firearms and a fake explosive device to test his security awareness.

While Macinka claims he recognized the activist Vojtěch Pšenák behind the disguise, video footage released by the group appears to show the minister interacting with the interviewer as if the encounter were genuine. The activists allege that Macinka’s security detail failed to inspect the premises and that the minister sent his protection officer away shortly after arriving at the location.

The police unit responsible for protecting senior officials is currently examining the incident to determine if it constitutes a systemic security failure.
