Czech Government adopts critical infrastructure rules and prepares new foreign troop law

The Czech government approved a regulation on basic services and significance criteria for critical infrastructure on 13 July 2026. The decree defines which entities qualify as providers of essential services and outlines the reporting obligations they must meet through a new Central Critical Infrastructure Portal, which will become operational once the regulation enters force.

The cabinet also voted to draft a new law governing the residence of foreign armed forces on Czech soil and the implementation of defence agreements with the United States and NATO. The Ministry of Defence, together with other ministries, will submit the draft by mid‑2028, aiming to update the 1999 legislation that currently regulates the presence of foreign troops and related security matters.
