Czech Government Approves Integrated Prevention Law Amendment

The Czech government has approved an amendment to the Integrated Prevention Act, aimed at reducing administrative burdens for industrial and agricultural enterprises. The new legislation seeks to modernize and streamline permitting processes by replacing multiple separate permits with a single integrated permit for specific sectors, including energy, chemical industry, metal production, waste management, and certain livestock operations.

Minister of the Environment Igor Červený stated that the amendment aims to eliminate unnecessary paperwork while maintaining high standards for environmental and health protection. The changes align with EU efforts to simplify regulations, specifically regarding environmental management systems and transformation plans. A key feature is the introduction of generally binding rules designed to standardize and accelerate the permitting process.

Separately, amendments to the Phytosanitary Act are under consideration in parliament. These proposals include mandatory electronic recording of plant protection product use by professional users and potential changes to wildlife management. Proposed measures include facilitating the regulation of invasive species, such as the sika deer and golden jackal, and adjusting rules regarding European bison and groundwater extraction fees.
