Czech Government approves new cultural policy and agricultural aid
The Czech government has approved a new state cultural policy for the period 2026–2029. The policy aims to create conditions for high-quality culture, protect cultural heritage, support creative industries, and improve cultural accessibility across all regions. However, the proposal has faced criticism from professional associations and unions, who claim it was developed without involving the public.
In addition to cultural policy, the cabinet approved the 2027 budget proposal for the State Environmental Fund, which anticipates a balanced budget with revenues and expenditures of approximately 44.06 billion CZK.
Regarding infrastructure, the government approved cooperation between the Railway Administration and the city of Prague for the modernization of the Smíchov railway station. The project will transform the area into a modern transport hub, including a future bus terminal, to achieve cost and time savings.
Finally, the government addressed economic relief for farmers affected by the Middle East conflict and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The European Commission has released 10.874 million euros (approximately 263.7 million CZK) in extraordinary support to compensate for increased costs.
