Czech government moves forward on new hospital sites and land transfers

The Zlín regional health committee is still awaiting a decision on which contractor will build a new maternity hospital in the city, with the project pending discussion in the health committee.

In parallel, the Czech government is preparing to transfer land in the Faculty Hospital of King’s Vineyards (FNKV) to the Ministry of Defence as part of a broader plan for a new hospital in Prague. The move could see the new facility operated as a military hospital. The Ministry of Health has been tasked with drafting a relocation plan by the end of August, while a capacity study estimating a need for 800 to 1,300 beds and outlining site options—including Letňany, FNKV, and Bulovka—is expected by year‑end.
