Czech Health Insurance Fund warns of phishing scam targeting bank accounts

The Czech General Health Insurance Fund (VZP) has issued a warning about a fraud campaign that uses SMS or e‑mail messages claiming to update the holder’s health insurance card. The messages contain an “encrypted link” that redirects recipients to a website that closely imitates the official VZP portal. The fake site asks for personal details such as birth number and bank card information, including CVV, and demands an online payment.

VZP advises people not to open attachments, click the links, or provide any personal or banking data. Anyone who has already entered information should contact their bank and the police immediately and report the incident to info@vzp.cz. The insurer stresses that this is a repeated tactic and urges the public, especially seniors, to stay vigilant.
