Czech highway police rescue foreign woman from hypoglycemia on D1

On 1 August, a patrol from the highway unit in Velký Beranov, Jihlava region, responded to a call at a service station on the 166 km mark of the D1 motorway. The officers, Monika Vašíčková and Miloslav Kučera, found a 39‑year‑old foreign woman collapsed on the floor, repeatedly saying “insulin”. They discovered an insulin pen in her bag and suspected a hypoglycaemic shock. The police administered water, a sweet drink, cold compresses and helped her breathe with a paper bag while a passer‑by who identified himself as a doctor assisted with first aid. The woman later showed signs of a possible heart attack; emergency services arrived at 14:15 and transferred her to the University Hospital in Brno for further examination. Police spokesperson Dana Čírtková praised the officers for their swift action and highlighted their role in saving the woman's life.
