Alpine hiking accidents reported in Italy and Austria

Several fatal and non-fatal mountain accidents have been reported across the Alps in Italy and Austria.

In Italy, a 46-year-old hiker from Treviso died after falling 300 meters on the Creste di Costabella in Val di Fassa. Additionally, a 43-year-old Czech tourist died in the Belluno Dolomites after stepping off a ledge near Rifugio Coldai while attempting to take night photographs.

In Austria, a 27-year-old German hiker from Frankfurt died following a fall in the Stubai Alps near the Wildkopfscharte. A separate incident in the Karwendel mountains involved a rescue operation where mountain rescuers delivered replacement shoes to a hiker after one had fallen into a steep ravine.

In the Monte Rosa massif, two German climbers fell into a crevasse on the Lys Glacier; one was uninjured while the other sustained a fractured ankle.
