Czech Extraliga begins new season with Pardubice chasing historic title

The new season of the Czech Tipsport extraliga is underway, marked by significant roster changes and high-profile player movements. Defending champions HC Dynamo Pardubice are aiming for a historic consecutive title, bolstered by the arrivals of world champions such as David Tomášek, Matěj Stránský, and Tomáš Noska. Coach Filip Pešán noted that the league's quality continues to rise as players increasingly choose the Czech league over other European competitions.

In České Budějovice, HC Motor enters the season under new coach Robert Petrovický and with defenseman Tomáš Kundrátek appointed as the new captain. The team has integrated eight foreign players to strengthen the roster. Meanwhile, HC Tábor secured a home victory against Dukla Jihlava, highlighted by a hat trick from Pavel Novák.

Other regional developments include the return of Martin Zaťovič to the first league with AZ Havířov in Přerov and a strong start for HC Střelci Jindřichův Hradec in the regional league. Additionally, the league celebrates its 90th anniversary, with various clubs planning retro-style celebrations.
