Czech hospitality highlights Parkhotel history and Beskydy gastronomy

The Mama Shelter Prague, formerly the legendary Parkhotel in Holešovice, is approaching its 60th anniversary since its opening in June 1967. The building is a symbol of post-war modern architecture and has served as a significant filming location for cult Czech films and series such as Arabela and Což takhle dát si špenát.

The site holds historical weight, as the area previously served as a collection point for deportations during World War II; a memorial now commemorates this era. Following a major 100-million-koruna reconstruction in 2015, the hotel's original design elements were restored, including its iconic reception and architectural features.

In the Beskydy region, the Hotel & Garden U Holubů in Čeladná offers experiential gastronomy focused on local ingredients. The Garden restaurant, recognized by the Gault&Millau guide, serves seasonal menus and features a floating glass meeting room. The resort provides extensive outdoor spaces and views of the Kněhyni mountain.
